A Pre-COVID-19 Trip in a COVID-19 Era
It’s been awhile since I posted anything. We went on a trip in February, which is more than 7 months ago at this point. It would be an understatement to say the world has changed since then and it’s been hard to get motivated to write or think about travel. While we were on that trip to Spain, COVID-19 was something that seemed far away. It was mostly in Asia at that time, though it was starting to show up in Italy by that point. Only 3 short weeks after we returned from Spain, Europe was in the thick of their COVID-19 nightmare and the US was just starting.
For a family that travels as much as we do, our plans have been thrown into a state of chaos. No trip to Maui and Kauai in June. No second honeymoon trip for my wife and I in July/August. An end of year trip to the UAE is not looking good.
The pandemic has taught us to be more resourceful and think locally with our travel. Being in New England we are fortunate to have a plethora of destinations within a short drive. This summer we were able to visit some places we’ve been to before, but not in the summer because they are usually too crowded to enjoy.
In any case, I’ll be posting about the Spain trip in the upcoming days and remember that his trip occurred pre-COVID-19 and feels like 100 years ago, which is why parts of it will seem so alien!
We hope you all remain safe and patient for things to return to the new normal. In the meantime enjoy the upcoming memories from Spain!
