Florida 2020: Diary – Day 6

Mondays are always a little tougher to get up. After staying up later over the weekend it was even more difficult get up on time this day. We still made it down to the restaurant on time and it was still the buffet. It seemed the buffet was going to stay through the holidays which was fine with us. The buffet took less time, anyways.

Morning Activities

Once the boys were on their Zoom calls I went out for another run. I was lucky I was able to take the rest of the trip off and wouldn’t have to work. I felt a little guilty since everyone else had to work, but the feeling passed.

I ended up running the same 5K route I had a few days earlier and was quite happy with my time. I must be getting in better shape!

After the run, I did some online searching for a wash and fold service to do the laundry. While the Work from Hyatt rate included discount laundry service, it was still far too expensive to consider. I found a service only a few miles away and called to get the details. For only $2.50/lb they’d do the laundry and have it ready within 24 hours. Perfect! I’d have to gather the laundry the next morning (our next to last day) so it would be ready before the last section of the trip.

I worked on some side projects before our normal lunch routine. and contineud with them in the afternoon. The boys were surprisingly focused on their work considering all the distractions and sunny weather around them.

Pool and Dinner

After school the boys went back to the pool for a couple hours. It wasn’t what I would consider packed, but it was definitely busier than it had been before the weekend. It did not detract from the fun, though.

I checked the lost and found to see if the missing Frisbee from the previous night had appeared but it had not. It was probably long gone so we’d have to get another one at some point.

When dinner rolled around we decided to do DoorDash again. Tomatico got Mexican again, my wife got P.F. Changs, and my youngest and I tried a new chicken place. It would be interesting to see how closely the orders arrived as they initially had drastically different arrival times.

As it turns out, the Mexican we ordered first, and which was located the closest came last. The driver seemed to make a few detours along the way after the food took forever to be prepared. That said, he did get more than he ordered so that worked out in the end.

Down in Cool Beans we used one of our vouchers to buy a smores kit with the sticks, marshmellows, graham crackers and chocolate. They were $25 which is a LOT for what we got, but the voucher covered it so in the end it didn’t cost us anything.

Down by the firepit we perfected our roasting skills and loaded up on some sugary goodness before heading back to the room. I only participated in the cooking in order to justify making a detour on the way back to the room to get an ice cream to keep the “tradition” alive.

Only one more full day left at the resort. We were having a great time and unusually for us didn’t have much desire to go outside the resort. We are usually focused on experiencing the local highlights and we had researched several, but at the end of the day feel content to stay at the hotel and enjoy the relaxation.
