We could sleep in a little, but I still needed to be up in time to reserve our virtual boarding group for Rise of the Resistance ride at 7:00am. We had loved the ride ride so much the first time, we prioritized another chance to experience it.
We sat out he couch refreshing on my phone and clicked through as quickly as possible when it became active. We got in!! Apparently the key is to not try to read what’s on the screen and just click through.
Hollywood Adventure
Since this was our second time in Hollywood Studios we knew more about what we wanted to do first. We headed straight to Slinky Dog Dash and then Toy Story Mania (still undefeated!). By this time it was just after the official park open. Not a bad start. We went straight to the Aerosmith Rockin’ Roller Coaster. The line was getting long but we were willing to wait. It was becoming one of Tomatico’s favorite rides.
We then headed over to Space Tours as we hadn’t had a chance to do it our first day. They both really like it, though it mixed up my insides if I do it more than a couple times in a row. After the second trip I convinced them it was time for lunch which worked!
After lunch we saw that our Rise of the Resistance boarding time was approaching. We decided we had just enough time to go on the Aerosmith ride again as the line was about the same time as previously in the morning.
Our boarding time had arrived while we were on the Aerosmith ride so we headed straight over to Rise of the Resistance once we were done. The ride was just as good the second time and still highly recommended if you get a chance to ride it. The action is intense in that there’s a lot going on around you, but it’s not moving in a way to get you all mixed up.
Chillin’ at the Hotel
We headed back to the hotel after the Rise of the Resistance ride as the park was getting busy. The boys spent some time in the pool, but mostly relaxing in the room. Our feet were sore from all the walking. According to my Fitbit we averaged a half marathon every day (more than 13 miles). One day we walked over 18 miles. That’s a LOT of walking and we were all feeling it.
For the evening activities we decided that Tomatico and I would go back to the park, but my youngest would relax at the hotel with my wife. They wanted Indian food so we ordered that for them and Tomatico and I snuck away to Golden Corral to stuff our faces one last time.
Hollywood at Night
Tomatico was focused on beating me at Toy Story Mania. On his first trip with me he had come 1000 points, effectively one missed target, away from beating me in our closest game. Our first stop was Toy Story Land and we found the ride only had a short wait. It said 40 minutes on the sign but the wait was closer to 20. He didn’t succeed in beating me.
We then headed to the MuppetVision 3D ride. We love the ride and while the 3D effects aren’t as unique as they were 20 years ago when the ride was newer, it’s still a very well done show and never gets old. Even the pre-show is hilarious. We got there just as the previous show started, but that just gave us more time to watch the pre-show!
About this time I got a text from my wife that she got her COVID test results in email (negative!). I then checked my email and saw the rest of our results were also negative so we were clear to go home in a few days! It was the first test we. Had ever taken so it was a relief to be clear.
After the show, Tomatico was still focused on beating me at Toy Story Mania. When we arrived back in Toy Story Land after admiring Star Wars Land at night (amazing!) the ride was effectively walk-on. We rode it three more times. He won in the final game by only 1000 pints. Grrr. We had time for another game, but he wasn’t about to risk his victory with a rematch.
It was getting close to park closing time and we decided to get in line for Slinky Dog Dash for one final ride. It was a long line but it moved faster than expected and we finished the ride about the same time the park closed.
It was our first time riding it at night was a much different experience. It was our first Seeing Toy Story Land and Star Wars Land in the distance lit up.
Park closing wasn’t as crazy as in normal times because there wasn’t a show or Fantasmic! that everyone had stayed to watch. People filtered out of the park at a more natural rate rather than a massive crush when the show ends like our previous trips. Driving back to the hotel there was no traffic to deal with.
When we got back to the hotel we found my wife was in the laundry room doing a load of laundry. The machines were nice and new and there was a comfortable couch to wait on. It was also attached to the game room and the boys played a few games of foosball.
The next day was our final full day and final day in a park. We’d be going to EPCOT on New Years Eve (day).
