Miami 2021: Diary – Day 9

We had one more day of activities before we would be heading home. The weather was great and we enjoyed the location, though we were quite tired of dealing with the hotel. We’d only have one more short night and then we’d be done with it.

Morning Activities

While my wife and the boys had breakfast in the hotel, I went for another run along the shore path. I went in the opposite direction as I had gone a few days before, heading north to see where that would take me. As it turns out, the path ended after less than a mile. To continue on the shore I’d have to backtrack a little and go over a busy bridge so I decided to instead turn around and run past our hotel a little ways to get in enough of a workout. It was quite hot so I didn’t push it too much.

Back in the room the boys wanted to go to the pool and beach with my wife who had carved out a morning with no work commitments. I was happy to spend the time ironing out some more travel arrangements for a future trip and continue to track down where some Marriott free night certificates had gone in the system.

Afternoon Fun

We had a later lunch and the boys and I went to Flannigans yet again. I believe we had cycled through every server during all of our visits. We were officially regulars. After lunch and sneaking an afternoon dessert, we went back to the hotel to relax in the afternoon.

The boys played a video game together on the balcony for an hour before we headed back to the pool and beach for our last afternoon. It was generally uneventful and we met back in the room once my wife was done work for the day.

Dinner and Early Bed

We had a very early flight the next morning so we had a low key dinner before circling back at the hotel to pack and prepare everything.

I scheduled a Lyft for the morning since it usually took a long time to get a ride during the day. I didn’t want to be stuck waiting for one so early in the morning if I didn’t have to.

With everything packed and the alarms set, we were prepared to get up and go in just a few minutes in the morning. We stayed up later than we should have but still managed to get to sleep at a reasonable hour. We were ready to go home!
