We are a family that travels.
Several years ago, as a family we decided to prioritize doing as much traveling as we can while the kids are young enough to minimize the conflicts. We have two wonderful boys ages 7 and 9 who have become world travelers and we’ve had a blast doing so.
In order to prioritize travel we consciously decided to forgo the bigger house and the shinier car and to take every opportunity we could to go on vacation to new and interesting places.
There are surely others who have travelled more often and more widely than we have or are more committed to maximizing travel opportunities. We’d love to hear those stories to find new places to explore!
We’ve found the balance that works for us and keeps us excited about travel and this blog shares our experiences, lets you in on how we go about planning process and shares how we travel. We hope you find some interesting tips and tricks along the way!
While my wife and I have very full time jobs combined with two very active boys with their own commitment to sports and activities, we’re here to show it is possible to find the time to vacation with some planning and dedication.
Of course it’s not all just about finding the time. Travel isn’t cheap. We are by no means the most frugal of travelers, though with few exceptions we always fly economy, we have found ways to leverage credit card points and miles to maximize our travel experiences, either through minimizing costs or maximizing luxury experiences.
We’ve been on some fantastic trips so far with more to come. We hope sharing our experiences will help you on your own dream vacation adventure!
Oh, and if you’re wondering where the name “Tomatico” came from, it’s a made up Spanish nickname approximating “little tomato” and is the nickname of our oldest who has red hair.
